Just to play devils advocate a little bit here Mr. Administrator.

In another thread, you said "YMF in no way will promote any copyright infringement." And I agree with that 100%. I just think we need to be careful here about using Yamaha's logos in way without their permission. Trademark infringement, copyright infringement. Same difference.

yep i agree with that so i was only chuckin ideas up
i'm sure they would check to make sure there was no copyright or infringing
    before putting something into motion
so to add fuel i'll chuck this in for debate

Dang this is cool. I really like oval man, there is just something about it..........IT'S DIFFERENT!!!!
Thanks. That's what I was going for. I'll have to see if I can get my wife (a former art major at Penn State) to draw something better up. I asked her to when I sketched it, but she hasn't done anything with it yet. A good version may be up to my poor art skills.

Oh yeah, I forgot. What are the dimensions (in pixels) for the header banner? I'll see if I can whip something up, since I've got much more skills with the computer than I do with pen/pencil.

.....What I would like todo is replace the banner up top.........Let's get that done, then move on to the shirts.
OK, I'm not real good with this, but better than I am at drawing. Here's a little something I came up with. I'm not 100% happy with the font on the text, but it's a start anyway. No offense (with the stars & stripes ghosted in the background) intended to our international members, but plain color was boring, and it's the 1st thing that popped into my head. Besides, I think the majority of the members, and the host of the site are all USA based, so I didn't think anyone would mind too much.

Anyway, here's a thought I had. Any suggestions to improve it or even to try something completely different?

Personally I don't mind the Stars and Stripes. However both the Administrator and Super Moderator are Canadian.

zhodz: That's beautiful work but it really doesn't take into account the international nature of the membership here. The idea has potential with a different background, or our own flags in the background. Logistically it may be a nightmare US, Canuck, UK, Aus, South Africa .......

Plus everybody would like to his bike line in the logo. I kind of got used to the "dude with a beanie"

Which ones did I miss? I just copied the models from Yamaha's website, so I didn't think I missed any. Or were you talking about the actual bike in the pic? I used a Raider, because I like the way it looks, but I ride a V Star, so I don't think the bike itself would really be an issue.

As for the background. Any other suggestions? I thought about ghosting in the Yamaha star, and name, but I was trying to not use their logos or anything due to copyrights and such.

I like the idea of using the banner at the top of the website. It doesn't exclude anyone like a flag would (even if we got all the usuals, some dude from Kerplakistan would show up and be horribly offended!!). Plus it's something we all recognize anyway.

Yes I meant a picture. I personally don't care, but some already didn't like the flag. As for using the Yamaha logos, they should pay Administrator some money for promoting their bikes. There are a lot of guys that buy their bikes after reading about them on this forum.

I think you're misinterpreting what they're saying. They aren't offended by it, but they're concerned that others may be. Like you they have said "I don't mind but ....." then they voice their concern.
Unfortunately in today's society we have to tip toe around minority opinions. A majority of people can like something (or be indifferent to it), but we all must avoid whatever it is, so that the hand full of people who don't like it won't be upset.
It's ridiculous, but it's the way things are. It's also exactly why I mentioned the potential problem with the flag when I posted it, and why others have agreed that it could be an issue. It's no big deal, I'm not offended, and I completely understand, since I was concerned from the start. I was mainly posting to put an idea out there, and hopefully get some feedback on what designs could be done to get a new working banner.
Since I've gotten no suggestions, I'll try again, this time with a little copyright infringement.

    What do you all think?

PS I agree that Yamaha shouldn't care if we use their logo, because we're obviously all fond of their products. The problem is they don't want to have any association with a forum, in case someone says something they don't agree with. We're back to the whole tip toeing around the minority opinion again. They don't want to get sued, because someone was offended by something someone on a forum that was associated with them said.

PSS when I say "minority opinion" I'm not talking about a minority group, like a race, creed, religion, etc. I mean a minority opinion, as in their opinion does not agree with the general opinion of something (or the majority opinion).

    Edit:
Just a heads up to those in charge. If any of the suggestions of banners I posted become an issue (with controversy, or legal issues with Yamaha), I can delete them from photobucket, which will break the link and they will disappear from the thread. Just let me know if it needs done, and I'll kill them ASAP.

With tongue firmly planted in cheek; I say

I don't like the colour blue. So your banner offends me. (Actually I don't like the colour blue due to a certain CFL team whose colours are blue and a lighter blue. GAWD I hate them) But that would not stop me from visiting the site.

I'd buy a shirt....but why does it have to have a raider on it????

    haha

You could always make it where the background flashed a different flag every 3 or 4 seconds. That might do it...except for the guy that wants to know why HIS flag wasn't shown first, or wasn't shown at all.

Oh well. I guess you can't please everyone.

    Keep it up, guys.
We've got some creative minds at work here.

    LOL

Seriously though. I picked, blue because it's Yamaha. It used to be if you bought a Yammi, it was blue. Kaw's, were green, and Suzuki's were red. Of course they all wised up, and started using more than just one color, but I figured, blue would be a good start.

That would be a killer idea. Talk about creative minds here.

Oh yeah. We've got a bunch of comedians around here too. Thanks for the laughs everyone.

zhodz, I gotta disagree on this point. It's gotta be black. sorry, dude. Black sells better. Plus I just plain look better in black.

LOL. What too much blue at work?
Yeah, black does seem to make for better shirts. They're more universal.

Although, I didn't realize these were shirt ideas too. I thought we were just working on the banner for the site, then moving back to the shirts once that was done (as per post #19 (by VzdarManiac)). Of course, I'd be thrilled if one of my banner designs ended up on a shirt that people from the forum were wearing. How cool would that be.
