pajlineryohn, Giver her time and she'll want her own. Most on the forum know that my attitude towards a bike was "organ donor" (I'm a nurse) and I was pissed when my husband told me he'd bought a bike. Never mentionned a thing before that...Well I decided the bike could come between us or give us something to do together (we're emptynesters too). After my first ride on the "queen's throne", I decided to get my own bike. Being a passenger was booooooring. After taking the safety course last August, my husband noted that I was a better passenger. Got my own bike this Spring and the rest is "herstory"...

My husband doesn't ride, never has.
I never did until I took the course almost 4 years ago.

It kind of nice to ride by myself. My husband and I work together and have for the last 36 years so apart time is nice sometimes.

Having a wife that likes to ride sure allows for more riding time than one saying "stay home with me". I love for my riding buddy to hop on and go. I hardly go anywhere without her on the back, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Wow! I feel lucky. In the state of Pa. they offer the course for free.
It is still really worth it.
    Good luck

A little over a year ago we both talked about riding. She took the MSF course and I got her a new 650 classic and me the 1300 tourer. One year and 14,000 miles ( yes 14,000 miles) later she wanted a bigger bike. So got her the new 950 tourer. Got it on 7/20 and she already has over 4000 miles on it. Now she wants loud pipes. Created a monster. LOL. She loves riding and always looks for a reason to ride. We have been to WV twice and are going to FL (if the weather is good) end of OCT. on the bikes. Because of the bikes we spend LOTS of time together doing something we both enjoy.

It's definitely worth it - I actually got my license in PA and think it's ridiculous to make people pay so much for something that benefits not only the rider and passenger, but also everyone else who's on the road.

Hopefully my fiance will pass and i'll add something new to the garage...

I love all these stories! Both my boyfriend & I bought our current bikes when gas was $4/gallon. We'd ridden in our "former lives" but this time the decisions to purchase were purely economical...HA! How quickly things change...now it's all about the ride...

My hubby doesn't even want to ride much, unless I go... he WILL, but doesn't enjoy very much. Makes me feel 'special'- He got a bike after we were married about 2 yrs.-- I WASN"T very happy about it.. BEEN THERE-DONE THAT - -didn't want any part of it AGAIN- EVER!... 1st ride out- we got in a TERRIBLE STORM! SCARED ME TO PIECES! I vowed to never go again... NOW-- I have my OWN! I sometimes wonder- WHAT ARE YOU DOING??!!???!! But it's something I can't explain... I love my V Star.

I started back riding 3 summers ago after a 30 year hiatus.
My wife had retired from working in the emergency ward of the local hospital and declared she would have nothing to do with motorcycles.
Over the first year of riding I kept telling her she would love the freedom of riding back country (Paved roads). We enjoyed car rides in the country all the time. She decided last year to take a 3 hour course that was to see if she liked it. It was her intention to come home and tell me she tried it now stop bugging her. When she came home she had signed up for a full course and in a couple of weeks she had taken her course and had her license. We found her a used 750 Suzuki Intruder and started to pile on the miles.
This year she wanted a bigger bike a she found the Intruder too small for her and now has an 1100 Yamaha Virago. So far this year she has gone on a 10 day trip riding from 400 to 600 KM per day.

Her new moto now is never say never.

I envy you people. My S.O. refuses to go...
oh that was sooo me 5 years ago. I had an ex who had a crotch rocket and scared the bejeebers out of me on it a few times. Got divorced and then met my current hubby who had two bikes. I vowed I was NEVER getting on any bike ever again. Well let me tell you.. I took the MSF class 3 years ago and I ride my own... and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!! Hopefully your S.O. will change her mind and enjoy riding someday. There is NOTHING else like it in the world. Luckily I live in PA where the MSF is FREE!!!! Hubby was shocked and never thought I'd stick with it. I am soon to be trading in my Little Suzuki GZ250 and hope to get a Yamaha Vstar 650 Classic. CAN'T WAIT!
