Take a look at this - looks like the driver of the car was trying to do a u-turn on a really narrow street - not at an intersection.

Looks like the bike went about as far right as he could to avoid her.

Its sad to see he's not moving.

    BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!

I guess it would help if I post the link - DUH!

Crazy old lady. See how she took her time getting out of the car. She shouldn't even be driving.

She's definitely at fault but it looked to me as if the biker was travelling too fast for such a narrow street. He didn't give himself any reaction time.

guys give her a break, she probally had to cut her cell phone call short before she could get out of the car.
I agree it was her fault but i also agree that it appeared the bike was moving fast for the narrow road with so many parked cars present.

I agree, it looks like he was going too fast for that street, but pulling a U-turn on a road that is clearly not wide enough and in front of on-coming traffic. . .If she killed the guy in FL thats a $70 fine. Now how is she going to pay for her manicure?

$70 fine for killin somebody??? That's it?? I can't believe a person wouldn't be brought up on man slaughter or something. Fl must have some very strange laws...perplexing.

It just goes to show that you can't fix stupid. On both of their parts. SHe shouldn't have made a U Turn and he shouldn't have been going so fast. I almost had a similar event happen to me the other day on my old CB 750. Chick pulled out in front of me, and I almost t boned her. Luckily I had enough room.

Yep. The official infraction is "failing to yield the right-of-way." We actually had a guy kill two riders on two separate dates within a month or two of each other. A college student on her bicycle then a doctor riding his bicycle. Both riders were in the bicycle lane and he fled the scene after killing the doc. The geezer said he was on his way to the V.A. for an appointment and didn't want to be late. Both times he got off with a $70 fine.

A drunk driver killed two lady riders 4 or 5 years ago east of Gainesville. His license had been suspended for more than a dozen years for DUI when he killed them. His only charge was driving without a license.

I think its a combination of stupid laws and LEOs who don't view motorcyclist/bicyclists as human beings. At least thats the impression that many of us have of the situation.

That is for sure. This is one of the AMA's pet peeves. Accidents causing loss of life and the guilty party walks. Any case like this and the least they should get is vehicular manslaughter.

As for the guy on the bike, I don't think he was speeding. If you compare his speed to the very first car to go by, I'd say it is comparable. After that dingbat starts her turn, everyone else was going slower, partly due to where her car was stopped and probably partly to try to see what was going on. I've known of more than a few accidents that have had "satellite" crashes due to rubber-neckers being more concerned with seeing the original wreck than in looking where they were going.
