Thanks for the welcome!
Most likely a repeat question, but I have an 2007 1100 silverado 3500 miles on it love the bike. Would like to have better sounding exhaust. I don,t want it ridiculously loud or expensive and really don't want to rejet. So I'm thinking Slip-ons.But what kind. That is the question! Cobra,Vance & Hines etc. What do ya think?
If you are installing pipes or slip-ons only you will not need to re-jet. If the airbox has been changed or altered then jetting will be in order. Its difficult to advise on pipe/muffler slip-ons without know a price range...........That said, most manufacturers make slip-ons with a good tone, of course this is subjective. Keep in mind that you might want to order a AIS kit when you order the exhaust. Disconnecting the AIS will stop the popping.
The best advice I can give is to meet up with some 1100 riders and listen to their exhaust and pick a sound and exhaust based on what your ear vs $ tells you.
I think Ravhite covered it throughly. Only thing I would add is once you find what you want, check the web for prices. You can get things a lot cheaper from some web suppliers than a shop will sell them for.
I bought some cobra drag slip ons for $199 from Dennis Kirk.com.
Just another option if you don't want to get new pipes or slipons is just to drill out the existing pipe. Just did this on my 07 and the volume isn't obnoxious but the sound it a lot more throaty. More like a lower rumble and hides that sewing machine sound...LOL
Only costs are a couple of hole saws and some exhaust paint to keep it from rusting and clean it up.

Thanks Guys!
There have been no other mods done to my bike as far as the engine or carbs. The exhaust was my first thought. Haven't seen the need for increased performance, stock suits me for now. Thanks again for the advice!
