I have a 2008 1100 silverdo and am getting neutrals between gears coming to a stop. Am going through the gears on the way down and think i'm in frst at a stop light but NOPE is a neutral. I've heard this is a common complaint. Anyone else having this problem. Its starting to really piss me off.

I have a 2006 and I have the same problem. Thing will go into "N" when you don't want it too and then when you need it, it's hard as hell to get into "N" Makes you want to kick something! Good luck, go for a ride to relax from the stress....

Recently my 08' started having this problem only when I pull up to the toll both on the interstate, getting funny looks from the toll worker as I'm trying to find N,embarrising as hell.

BTW,why are there toll fees on some parts of the interstate,I thought the tax on gas was supposed to be paying for highway maintinance

Try adjusting your shift linkage so that the heel shifter is higher i use to get this once in awhile as well after adjusting it i dont think its happened at all. Another thing that has really helped with smooth shifting is when i went to syn oil I didnt think it would have made that much of a difference but it did, just some ideas

a full synthetic oil sure helped my shifting...mobil 1 v twin or amsoil seem to be some of the best.....bob

As mentioned above, try to adjust the linkage. You may have a little slop that is making it more difficult than it should be to shift.

I've found that the 1100 needs a firm foot when shifting....so shift like you mean it.

Same for me... I had problems the first couple times I rode my 1100, but once I got used to being a little firmer with my foot when shifting, I've not had any more trouble.

That's the only problem I have with shifting. Sometimes I won't shift hard enough and it'll go into neutral rather than gear. I have to be more aggressive

I get the same thing on my '09 650 custom. Mostly shifting from 4th to 5th. Have to be firm on the shift.
