Saw this on the news this morning:

part of the new stimulus package; if you purchase a motorcycle this year you can write the sales tax off. This has got to make the dealers happy.

Same for a motor home. Soooo, UB, maybe you should go out and buy a brand new Prevost, Newell or Newmar to tow your bike all over North America, staying "wherever" a month or so at a time, and you then can write of the taxes paid on both, it AND your brand new bike. Now, there's the real deal! : )

FYI....the 4 senators who lobbied for adding motorcycles in the new legislation were from Pennsylvania, Missouri and 2 from Wisconsin (they must ride Harleys - ha!). Anyone here who lives in those states should consider sending them a "way to go" email.

    Take care.

That's already in the works for a riding buddy and myself. I'm not gonna say what it is but it is a passion of both of ours.

I believe so.... you don't write off the purchase until next year when you do 2009 taxes.

This applies to new purchases made from Nov 12, '08 thru Dec 31st, '09.

Also, in order to qualify, one cannot have a gross income of $125k+ (if filing single), or $250k+ (if filing jointly).

I know that this is not the place for this, I cannot help myself. I plan on buying a 55 foot prevost motor coach. and a hybrid car to tow behind as well as anew Vstar 1100. This is all well and good. Yep the stealus blind package provides for everything from condoms to home mortgage bailouts. Guess what there is nothing in there for the average Joe to help him or her keep thier house or job. But, we all get to pay for this bailout. Goodness what a privelidge. Only in America. WOW!

    No fair!

We live in Oregon, no tax on vehicle purchases, maybe they could reinstall the tax credit for interest paid!

No, I would not trade living in Oregon for even a few government bucks!
