I want to purchase a slip on for my 950. I am looking at the Cobra, Vance & Hines and Rush. I want to pick the quietest of the group. Has anyone heard all three?
Any help would be appreciated as I would like to avoid ear plugs on longer trips. Thanks.

Check You Tube. I know there are Cobra and Rush videos on there but not sure about Vance & Hines.

    Hey SLC,

Each of those slip-ons will be substantially louder than your stock exhaust. What many of us have done is to simply re-wrap its baffle to tone down the sharpness of its sound while also creating a deeper tone. It's a very easy little mod to do with the muffler wrap costing only about ~$10.

    Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the You Tube suggestions. I listened, but on my computer they all sound alike. Has anyone heard them that can offer an opinion on which one might be the quietest?

Thanks for the You Tube suggestions. I listened, but on...

I had a Cobra slip-on and was too loud and blappy. I now have a Rush slip-on with a 1.75" baffle, it has a deep pleasing rumble but louder than the stock muffler. All the bikers that I ride with say that it has a great sound.

Even with the baffle wrap the Cobra is still plenty loud. I like the sound but on the highway wear an ear plug in the right ear

So, are you saying the Rush is a bit quieter than the Cobra?

SkdMige, do you need ear plugs with your exhaust on the highway?

I don't need ear plugs but anyone riding behind me does. LOL

BuzhBoj, Where did you get your baffle wrap? Are there different kinds?

I bought mine from another forum member who thought it was too loud. He already had it wrapped. From what I've read though you can pick up baffle wrap from most automotive stores. Just be sure to use muffler wrap and not fiberglass. Some have used it but it will burn out and once the baffles have been heated a few times it's a bear to remove
