So after hearing everybody rave about just how great seafoam is I picked up a bottle at PartSource on the weekend.

How frequently do you guys use it and how much should be added to a tank of gas? Just looking at using it from a preventative maintenance thing and am not having any issues with the bike at the moment.

    Have a vstar 650 classic.

I recommend about a 1/4 to 1/3 a can to a full tank once a month. if you live in an area with a high Ethanol % in your gas, you should pour a little in each tank.

I second Red, a little each time won't hurt, mix it per the instructions on the bottle every few gas tanks or so. If you're a bit heavy with it, you will notice the performance affected a bit, but it will pass.

Sorry for a lame question, but what is seafoam?

It's a fantastic fuel additive that does wonders to our carbs. Nothing cleans them like Seafoam. It is available in most auto parts stores and Walmart. It also works as a fuel stabilizer making it great for using when storing the bike.

Seafoam is a petroleum based cleaning solution.

It works amazing on just about any part of any vehicle. Bike, Cage, RV, ATV, Boat, anything.

You can use it in your gas (most common) but also can be used elsewhere to help clean things out.

I did a full seafoam treatment on my cage about 6 months ago and will never use anything else. I did my air intake, fuel system and oil. It runs soo much better. I noticed about a 3-4 mpg gain.

I normally do a couple ounces every other tank.

I put some in every 2-500 miles, check your mileage and if bike is sluggish throw some in. Works for me, also good at cleaning your plugs

    Is 10% ethenal considered high?

10% is the norm for whats added to gas, its also the max they can add without it affecting some engines. Its a crap additive that hates carbs gums up every little hole it can get into.

On the news the other night their was a fuel station that recieved 14% ethanol mixture and it made a problem for some vehicles, not all, but still only 4% more and it made the news !?.

I use Seafoam in everything I own that has an engine and it brings old engines back to life. The can has the amount to add to each gallon of gas. I have a little cup thats the size for my tank and I just keep it with the can and add it every other fillup. Now if I'm out cruzing and have to stop at a not so known gas station I will add some when I get home just in case the station has different gas mixture.

I use sea foam every 4-5 tanks of gas, not worried about time but the amount of fuel through the carbs

About 1/4 can is good for regular cleaning, up it to 1/3 if you skipped a few

I love Seafoam. Started using it awhile back. I carry a 4 oz. "lotion" bottle filled with Seafoam so that whenever I need to put some in, I have it ready. Bike runs better and since nearly all of the stations around here have gone to ethanol blend gas, I don't have to worry about it mucking up my carbs.
