Samson Rip Saw or Cannons question.

I have searched around, and can not find any sound clips of either of these two exhausts on an 1100.
I now have Cobra slashdowns on my bike but was looking at changing to samson rip saws or the cannons, but I would like to hear them on one of our 1100's before I make my decision.
Anybody got these that have any input on them would be great as well.
    Thanks.

I have Long Cannons on mine. I bought mine from Shane (at) SSCustoms. He helped with making sure I purchased the right baffles (they are sold separately) to get the sound I was looking for. I don't have the capability to make a sound video but I can say that I wouldn't trade them for anything. Typically a few decibels higher from the Cobras that are similar. Kinda a baratone sound as explained by our tailgunner since he spent many miles behind me last summer. I have pics of mine in my profile.

I also have Ripsaws. Love the sound. They resonate well. I've been told by others they sound really good. Mine don't have baffles and sometimes, maybe because I'm so used to them, they just sound loud. Have never had a complaint from a neighbor but have set off more than a few car alarms with them.

Don' think you can wrong with either. I've heard recordings of long cannons and if I'd get new pipes it would be those.

If I remember right the sweepers & ripsaws are very close. Mostly cosmetic. But I'm sure someone will chime in with more knowledge.

zing I have been loking at pipes for ever. I talked to a guy at samson he said the sound was deap and loud he said on a 1-10 note stock being a 1 the street swepers would be a 5 or a 6 and you can take out the bafels and get evan louder. I am going to order my street swepers this week or next. Swepers would be the same as the rip saw's.

Thanks for the reply, I finally got to hear a set of rip saws this past weekend and they are loud, but they sound nice.

Yes I heard them in person, and I think it's a good loud. However, with that being said they were pretty loud. I wouldn't recommend driving through a neighborhood late at night with them, but for that matter my Cobra slashdowns are pretty loud also especially with the baffles removed.

Has anyone put the big city thunder baffles in their pipes? Im getting interested in the cannons and I see that big city makes one for samson pipes.

My Samson Long Cannons have Samson baffles. They are deep sounding but not the (blatty) sound that you here in some pipes. I wouldn't trade my Samsons for any other set of pipes.

My baffle-less Ripsaws are a good loud...but will set off car alarms in a heartbeat.

That said, they can be dampered by running in a higher gear and lower RPMs.

On the highway, I think they sound great...I would love to be behind me one time so I could hear Bruiser from other people's perspectives.

One thing I have noticed is that my engine sounds the same in 2nd going 25 mph, 3rd going 35, 4th going 45 and 5th going 55...it sounds exactly same in those respective gears at those speeds.

Do I have too much time on my hands?

Well, you didn't mention how your bike sounds in first gear at 55 MPH or 5th gear at 25 MPH. You better get back to work - and make sure your work is complete before you come back!

One thing I thought I would add to this is that an intake kit can also change the sound of the motor. When I did my intake and exhaust, I did them on the same day (it was a LONG day) but I ran the motor a short time after I installed the exhaust system. I didn't ride it, but started it and reved it up a little bit in the driveway. It sounded good, but then I did the intake kit. After that, the sound was 100% better. I believe it was simply because of the better breathing - more air in means more air out through the exhaust and all that. So, if you install a new set of pipes and are not quite thrilled, you might want to do something to the intake. It will also add quite a bit of performance.

I just ordered the cannons! Next week the pipes and rejet will be done, and went with the 2 inch baffles and K&N air filter. I swear reading this thread I heard a voice saying "just do it"!
