Hi Guys I just bought a 2007 Vstar 1300 love it the best bike I ever owned. Im installing saddle bags soon and noticed that the vstar 1300 back seat is not like most where they unscrew the screw from the top of the fender and then lift the seat up and put on the saddle bags. Can someone tell me how to take the back seat off so I can install the saddle bags Thanks Mike

Insert the key and remove the driver seat. You will see two (2), 10mm bolts directly underneath the front portion of the passenger seat. YOu remove those 2 bolts, and gently push forward on the seat. It will easily come off then.

The slot for the key is in the left side cover just under the seat. Turn the key and the seat comes loose very easily.

Yep. Left side cover under seat and frame portion.
If you've got factory seats (which I can only assume), they'll come off very easy. Aftermarkets seem to fit a little 'tighter' (at least that's been MY experience with them). Sometimes takes some 'jiggling' tweaking to get seats off and on.

    Good luck.

Ok Lat question about my saddle bags I thought the bolt that is on the casing with the key lock was a mtric allen wrench but its not Im not sure what kind of bolt that is it looks like i need a star wrench with a hole in the middle of the star wrench any suggestions where to get that tool. Maybe I should just hard mount my bags lol

Yep, that's a 'safety' steal proof (forget the real name), socket.
    Tamper proof, that's it.
Takes a special torx head bit to remove it.
I can't remember if one of those tools comes in the factory tool kit or not.
I know in my boxes of tools I have a couple laying around, PLUS the replacement chrome covers I got had the socket in it also.
Any parts store will stock that socket.
    Good luck.

Is it a torx or a "star" socket? Seems like I got something besides a torx. Could be wrong, just thinking out loud.

Ooops, I removed and the re-tightened mine with a plain ole allen wrench. Are the motorcycle mechanical police gonna arrest me??
