I ordered Roadhouse slip on mufflers for my 08 rstd, should be here next week. Has anyone had experience with this install? Can I remove and wrap the baffles for a quieter rumble?
Hello,
Have you received and installed your pipes yet! I have an 08 RSTD and am leaning toward purchasing the Roadhouse brand. Please let me know what you think of the pipes.
Thanks,
Commanter
they sent me a damaged set, new set is scheduled to deliver 2/8, will let you know how install goes. I also found a baffle from Smartpartz.com, I can add to the Roadhouse if it is to loud.
Thanks, looking forward to hearing your review. I was in Durham NC Tuesday and stopped in the Yamaha store there. They have a used 07 RSTD with the Roadhouse brand on it. We started it up in the store and they are louder with a deep rumble. Wanted to take the bike outside to get the full effect but it was raining. I do not think they will be to loud. The store quoted me a set for $400.00. I need to shop around for price but that may be in the ballpark. The PN quoted was 1811-1145.
I got mine from an e-bay seller called GM Cycles. They were $369 including shipping for the slash cut tips. Make sure they are not blemished if you get them from anywhere else but manufacture. I do not know if different tips sound different. I have heard Roadhouse shark fin tips on another bike, Vulcan, very nice sound, loud but not obnoxious.
I put the Roadhouse slash cut mufflers on Sat. and went for a 200 mile ride. They were very easy to install, fit and finish was good. They are a little louder than I expected. I have an aftermarket stereo and I am thinking of adding a baffle to them to quiet them a little more, they are really good sounding, get on the throttle and people know you are passing them. Not much popping on deceleration, I will give them another chance before altering them. Too cold to ride, even in Tex. Will keep you posted.

I think I finally got my pipes like I like them. The Roadhouse slash cut slip on was a little loud so I installed 4" baffles. I then wrapped the baffles with steel wool and window screen secured with metal zip ties. This produced the sound I was looking for, great rumble at idle and cruising speed, very good growl on acceleration. Others I have seen used Bub, Khrome Works, or L.A. Chopper slip on mufflers. Don't know how they sound. Good luck, Live to Ride, Ride to Live.
Noticed your three sisters patch, have rode them roads several times, killer ride, and glad you got your scoot where you want it.......
Thanks for all the info. I think I will go with the Roadhouse Brand.
