I have a 05 1100 classic that I gave to my wife..(and for the ones that want to know why Got to good of a deal on a HD Softtail) now heres the problem she is short armed and just about has to sit on the gas tank to get a good feel..which would be better risers or handle bar and what type of each ..also i dont want to change cable's if possible.
Thanks for any help I can get.
When I bought my Classic I felt as though I was reaching for the bars. There are a lot of folks on here that have the 3X3 risers that Tim B. from Metric Magic sells. I have an 08 and it is recommended that you change the upper brakeline but, I didn't and have had no trouble. The comfort level has went up dramatically. I'm sure somone like "Quick Mick" will come on and also help with the endorsement. I do have pics of these installed on mine. Hopefully I send the right one.
Sorry here is another shot or 2.
I got these on my 650 and love them. I was able to keep all the existing cables and lines.

I have a bad shoulder and bought a pair of Barron DT risers to be installed this winter (Nov - April). They will keep the stock height but move the bars back 2 inches. I can keep stock cables and hoses, but will need to reroute them behind the forks, not a big deal.
Maybe you could have her hand from a chin-up bar in a doorway and tie some weights to her feet! If it doesn't lengthen her arms maybe her legs will get longer and you could extend the foot controls! LOL!
One of my reasons too buy my bike was to get my short legs to touch the ground at stops.
I had the same problem and got Custom International Pullbacks/Risers. From pics I've seen on the forum, these have more pullback than the Barons. Pics of them installed on my 950 are here (Post#1). This is their cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=0&Category_ID=10&manufacturer_ID=6&product_ID=16015&sblid_name=Custom_World_International_Handlebar_Risers___Intruder___V_Star___Road_Star. You'll see that they fit the 1100 as well.
Also do an Advanced Search on YMF using the words risers, pullbacks, handle bars, etc. and you'll find lots of info and shared experiences about the same issue.

I know several ladies that have gone with Tim B's 3X3 risers and it's make a big difference for them. It's about the max you can do without changing cables. there is a possibility that you need the change the top brake hose, but most don't have to.
Keep in mind that with the rake of the front fork...the 3" rise will also give you a little more pullback too...so you'll end up with about 4" total pullback.
I'd have her sit on the bike comfortably and hold her arms out and just see where her hands end up. I'd bet those 4" would bome in very handy....and the price is right on them too....don't quote me, but I think they run about $85 for the pair.
Hope that helps!
I have Tim's 3X3's. I did change the brake line on my 08. They are awesome and ended the pain in my elbow!! Would not hesitate to buy them again.

Can someone send the link to "Tim's 3x3" risers? I went onto the Metric Magic website, found it not user friendly at all, and could not locate the risers mentioned above. It sounds like they're what I'm lookiing for for my 2001 1100 Classic.
The best way is to call him, or join Delphi forums...Star Parts and Trade forum. Tim keeps his costs down by not having a full website...and passes those on to us.
here is a link to the forum...forums.delphiforums.com/star4sale/?
Tim's phone number is 575-671-0050 and his email address is mailto:metric.magic (at) gmail.com
I believe he has some 3X3 risers in stock and they run....(I'm guessing here) about $85 or so...which is super price for risers of any sort, especially for these.
here are some pics I grabbed from the V Star 1100 Riders forum

Excellent. Thanks for the info, pictures and quick reply. I'll get in touch with him tomorrow. Looking forward to no shoulder strain in the future. Any suggestions on a more comfortable seat from my stock one? I've heard mostly good things about Mustang Seats. Any other input?
In seats, it really depends on what you want. I suggest sitting on them before you buy. Go to used bike shops, rally's etc.... It's a ton of money to spend. Also keep your eyes out for used ones...people are always selling them because they didn't try them out before purchasing and they didn't fit them quite right.
I tried a Mustang and didn't like it all, it pushed me way too far forward, I didn't like the Ultimate either....I finally settled on a Corbin and am fairly happy with it, so far. It's whatever fits you.
