I,too, want to soften up my shock but it is a bear. I couldn't get it to move with a friend holding up the bike. I took it to the dealer yesterday and they put it on the lift and jacked up the rear wheel to take pressure off the shock. No luck. They couldn't move it either. We both tried to access it from the left side and can get the wrench on it but can't get enogh leverage to move it. The service manual says to access it from the right side after removing the panel and coolant resevoir, but I can't see any gain by doing that. Might require rear wheel removal. Hope someone else can offer some help.

I was looking at the right access compartment to adjust the rear shock and its not going to be an easy and quick task. I failed to check out this minor detail. I had a v-rod and streetglide and rear suspension adjustment was a five minute job. I need to go ahead and buy shop manual.

peteza, how does the stryker compare to the v-rod ? There are several things that appeal to me about the v-rod but I haven't ridden one.

If its anything like the Star 1300's adjustment you can adjust it from the left side without jacking it up. Here is a really good explaination along with pictures.

Thanks Goatlocker, it is similar to the v-star 1300. I removed the belt cover and that gave me the angle to come in behind the passenger foot peg above the swingarm. I used the yamaha shock wrench and about 15" long bar to give me little leverage.
