passenger back rest

    when I bought the bike the back rest was not on it,it is a used bike so I take the 2 chrome pieces off the fenders and on one side there were 2 long hex bolts and on the other side were 2 short hex bolts. so my ? is
    1. are they suppose to be this why
    2.or is there suppose to be 1 long and 1 short hex bolt on each side
    3.if there suppose to be 1 long 1 short which one goes where
    4.does the chrome pieces go over the brackets on the back rest.

    I just put on a sissy bar myself ('03 Custom). If I remember correct, the short goes in the front hole and the longer is the back. The factory chrome trim will go on the outside (so it still has the same look as factory). FYI, if you have or plan on saddle bags (with supports) you'll need to remove some of the spacers in order to have enough threads to catch.

    I'll confirm the short and long locations after I get home. With my luck, I have it mixed up (from memory). One thing for sure is one short and one long per side.

    I had it reversed. The longer bolts are for the front most holes and the shorter for the rear most. Sorry about that.
