curious how many of you do this when you get your bike?

why do they build in this issue????

I havent purchased my bike yet ( this spring ) but its kinda annoying to know that I will have to pay someone to do this after I give them lots of money in the first place for the bike......

I noted the yamaha website does not have an email to contact, just a phone number, I guess I may just have to call it sometime in the future........

    any imput??

A large number of riders never install the ORK due to the cost VS the amount of time for the change..........basically they don't find it an issue.

As to the why? It's pretty simple actually, the V* is an extension of the Virago line (same basic engine). The Virago's had no down tubes therefore the engine was part of the support system and was totally exposed . In this configuration there was no need for an exterior oil filter location.

You are correct about the email vs phone...........It sometimes takes a while but they do answer the phones.

I just installed one. Some people like tinkering with their bikes, and when I have no kids, I'll be like that too I suppose. But all I have to do now is drain and slap a new filter, refill and I'm gone. It seemed good for me to do now. I did the Jardine. If you have a beer fridge in your garage, then don't get one, spend more time in the garage and money on the beer! I don't have a beer fridge so I'm stuck with getting the ORK

I have the Phat Performance one and installed it at the first service. Not that I am going to have the dealer do the standard servicing, but the quoted savings was around $80 for them 'NOT' to do the oil change. And to be honest, making the oil change a real quick item to do will help encourage me to do them more often...
