I went into my local dealer today and purchased Yamaha semi syn and oem filter and got it all back home and started draining the oil. Had a solid flow for first 15 seconds or so then quit. Started the bike again and let it run for about 5 minutes to warm up the oil again, same thing happened 15 seconds of flow then nothing. Using a flashlight i can see there is still a substantial amount of oil in their and that little oil level indicator is useless why not just have a dipstick? I cant tell whether its over the full line or if its just residue on the glass. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated tomarow will probably be my last day to ride before i leave for Afghanistan

You have taken the wrong drain plug off........Proper one is other side of motor.....you have removed the one in front of the filter look other side of motor there is another one with a bolt next to it...

The proper one is a 17mm. (hell, maybe they're all 17mm under there, I dunno).
But for SURE the one you need to remove is semi surrounded by a 3/4 metal ridge. Closest to the kickstand side of the bike.

Yep. I did the same thing on my first oil change. You got the wrong plug.

I won't say all but a good portion of us do the same thing on the 1st oil change. I did. Don't sweat it.
