Put on Nostalgia bars last night and ISO grips, what a difference. I love those bars. Decided to go for a ride for the first time ever without the windshield and sure felt like I took a beating. I wear a half-helmet and about 1/2 way thru the ride had to throw it in my bags. I have the tall 1300T shield. I had the helmet on tight but it felt like it was going to rip my head off. I sure like the look with the shield off but may have to throw it back on for a ride of any length at all. How do you other guys handle it without a shield with a helmet on???

If you have your visor on your 1/2 helmet, the visor needs to be removed. The headwind will naturally want to lift your helmet off your chin. Also riding with the Nostalgia bars, your riding stance is much wider due to the width of the bars. I actually felt less wind resistance riding with the stock bars as opposed to the Nostalgia bars because the stock bars stance has your elbows tucked in. If I was running my 1300 without a shield, I would prefer a full coverage helmet.
