Ughh, the bike get's delivered on Friday night, the wife and daughter just talked me into taking them to the beach on Saturday, I have to postpone my special time with my new baby.

I think the wife is letting the new lady in my life know who takes priority.

Now that's just cruel. We give you permission to ride your new bike twice as long on Sunday.

If your wife is going to be the alpha female she has to establish herself right away....

Well, it was finally delivered around 1:00 this afternoon. I rode for about 2 hours, I had a sandwich and then rode again for another 2 hours. I just couldn't stay off of it. I told the wife that since we're beaching it tomorrow, I was gonna ride all afternoon, and I did. It felt like it had more power than my old bike (83 Honda Shadow 750) but that's a gimmie, the thing that amazed me the most was how balanced and agile she was. It looked big when they rolled it off the truck but when I sat on her, it felt like I was on a much smaller bike. Forgive me for sounding so amazed, I never actually got to test ride one before buying, none of the shops near me allowed it, liability issues.

The only negative to the whole experience was that the shop put the wrong locks on the saddle bags so I couldn't lock the bags. In fact when I was trying to lock the right box something snapped inside the lock cylinder and I couldn't even open the saddle bag anymore. That sucked cuz I had some stuff in it. Well I called the shop and they said they put the wrong lock cylinders on it and all I have to do is take it to the shop and they'll replace em.

I didn't get to get her up past 50 so I don't know how she feels at Interstate speeds, can anyone tell me what I should expect? I've read some reviews and they've all said it has plenty of power for the interstate but until I get out there I just don't know. I had a lot of vibration with my old Honda so I want to take some precautions if I should expect a lot of vibration, like new grips, foot pads and so on, I'm keeping her regardless, she's stuck with me.

Anyways, so far I love my new girl and plan on racking up many thousands of miles with her. She is gorgeous!

Awesome! That's what I love about the 950 - my Silver Girl - easy to handle and agile. I finally got to take her over the break in speed limit after my first service and found there was a little more vibration but not much. Yes she has lots of power! I'll never have to trade her up....

What are you going to name her?

Well this is kinda Geekie, but her name is Princess. Now before you say to yourself how simple that is I'll tell you how it came about. I got the Black cherry version, I like to hunt and where I do there are quite a few Black Cherry trees which I love and the scientific name for Wild Black Cherry is Prunus serotina. Serotina reminds me of my daughters name Sarah, which I call my little princess, and that's the story of my new V Star 950 in beautiful Black Cherry, Princess.

Well JJ...what do you like to hunt? I am mostly into archery myself..While I have not named my bike yet...nothing wrong with the name you gave her...Us hunters are getting more rare and only a hunter would understand...

Well, I hunt Archery, black powder and rifle. I admit that I'm fairly new to the bow, only a few years, but It's quickly turning into my favorite method to hunt. Up until this year I've hunted predominently public WMA land but I just secured about 1200 acres of private land to hunt through a friend of mine.

I guess bikes are my newest passion, I've been riding now for 2 years and it's quickly turning into a way of life (much like hunting) instead of just another hobby.

I think that's a great name and a great story behind it! There's lots of "princess" paraphnelia out there to decorate yourself and her with! LOL!

yyaj69, That reminds me of when I used to do archery (in my younger days) with intentions of hunting. Started off with a 40 lb. hunting bow and couldn't pull it. Like biking, it pays to start smaller!

LOL oh yeah, it is definitely getting out and about. It's got 505 miles on it after my ride with my WITW sisters today. Tonight DH is putting on my knight riderz light and some lights on the forks. Ordering my engine guards on Monday so I can get my highway bars on, I am missing those big time LOL.

It sleeps in my garage at night but he and I are out exploring through the day light hours..... and well....some of the midnight hours too.

Thats AWSOME! Boy are you in for a love/love relationship. Break the bike in properly, get your first service done on your new baby, then watch the miles pile up! Congrats!
