Sounds like a nice little system. Definitely cheaper than the big setups.

I've just never like the idea of speaker pods on bikes the last thing I want it to force my music on everyone else like those morons in cars with their base. I've always thought pods look fugly on handlebars.

according to the comments section on instructables:

    "very nice instructable dude.
made some for myself AND my dad, we both love them" XD

"For those that have questioned the sound quality, I can hear the speakers very well at 70 mph with a Full Face Helmet on and the shield down to keep out wind noise. With a half shell or no helmet it is difficult to hear at speeds above 40mph.
The speakers came in handy this past weekend with the opening of the beaches event in town. Traffic was bad so speeds didn't above 30mph for the most part. Was nice to be able to listen to the music while cruising and still talk to people."

These things will save us a couple hundred dollars, though I am thinking buying these for a hundred bucks, motorcyclespeakers.net you get a complete set of larger chrome speakers WITH an amp and switch. I prefer to use a smaller diameter set of speakers though, to keep the Raider looking more streamlined.

I don't know. A great big windshield, huge over-engineered quick realease backrest with a rack on the back, some driving lights and a couple of saddlebags will really set the Raider off with those speakers.

Yes but I overlooked that spot, I was going to mount my source near the control housings somewhere. I was even thing about mounting little 1" tweeters into the chrome speedo housing right above the guages, by cutting two perfect holes ito the ABS and that having a cleaner look, no extra handlebar clutter, wires tucked away. By the way, the mp3 player looks like a Samsung cell phone, right? I know they all have music plyers in them anyway, plus you can take and place calls.

I finally got all of the components needed to make this project come together for me. I am definately excited about it, I worked out the placement on my bars for its location, and it looks stream lined into the looks of the Raider. I received the amplifier last night, and it is so small and compact, I hooked it up to my MP3 player and speakers for a test run, and it sounded awesome! So far I have spent under 100 dollars for everything, I am shaping the speakers to fit into the bullet housings next. I will keep you all posted, I will try and make a YouTube video for a better look at them and a demo of there sound. Of course I will have pics also.

P.S. My dad has fallen ill in the hospital, due to complications from a hip replacement surgery. His name is Wally, would some of you say a prayer for him please, he is my hero and always made sure I was well cared for. Thank you kindly. Jim

Bless everybody here, my dad talked to us last night, the docs removed the respirator and my dad told me that he had no pain, and was the happiest he ever felt. He told me that he believed in Jesus and that he knew the bible was true more now than ever. He told me Jesus talked to him and emphasized to us that Jesus has blue eyes, not brown like some people think!!! As far as my speaker project, I will be taking the begining steps, preparing the speakers to fit, placement of the amp, and wiring. I will be soldering the speakers up to some heavy guage wire, to insure maximum sound and quality.

Hey popcad, I am almost completed on my home made sound system, I need to ask you what is keeping your MP3 player secure? Thanks in advance

Well, I completed the sound system project, and it's a BLAST! I'm having 3 times the amount of fun riding now. Nothing like rolling down the road with Iron Butterfly's Innagoddadavida blasting away! The units blend in well with the Raider's lines, as I had envisioned. Pics soon to follow.
