I have a V star 1100 and have problems getting to the kick stand down.
My problem is my foot will repeatedly slip of the stand. It usually ends up catching the O ring on my boot. This will eventually not only ruin my left boot, but I have got caught unable to put my foot down and my husband has to get my foot loose. I've had this bike a month, coming off a 750 Shadow, never had this problem with the Honda. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yamaha does a lousy job on the design of the kick stands, the turn-out is to short and not enough flair to it. It looks good but it is not comfortable to use.

Kuri has some kick stand extensions that look pretty nice and just might help. Check them out.

spray the hinge with wd-40 or crc to loosen it up so its not so stiff .

Some people just drill a hole and mount a steel button or bolt to help. Here is a thread on the VTX Cafe with some ideas for ya

I switched from thick soled boots, to cowboy boots and it works a little better. The "drill a hole" method works great too.....

Maybe it's just me but I'm not sure I agree with the "drill a hole" idea.

Anytime you have a hole in something whether it's a aircraft winshield, aircraft cowling, human body, kick stand or whatever........you have a weak spot.

Considering the weight and angle of said weight on the kick stand, it doesn't sound like a good idea.

    But that's just me.

sounded like mine a couple weeks ago ... little lube solved the problem ... just a little nudge now and it goes down ... might try that and if that don't help maybe loosin the bolt a little .... then if all fails there is nice kickstand ext. out there ... I WAS looking for one till I broke out the oil can

I did the bolt thing. I just drilled a 1/4 inch hole in the stand and put a stainless bolt through the hole that protrudes about 1/2 inch. No problem getting the stand down now.,L.B.

I can not remember who makes this but it is called the "Sand Shoe" and just attaches to the Kick Stand. Makes it a lot easier to catch with the heel of the shoe when putting down the stand. It also provides more surface area for the stand to rest on if you park your bike in a sandy or loose soil area.

Just did a Quick, Easy and Cheap fix to my kickstand. I had the same problems trying to hook the kickstand with my shoe and ended up scratching the chrome covers.
I simply put two washers between the kickstand block and the frame at the rearward bolt. It angled the stand out just enough to make it easy to put it down.

I read where someone on this forum (I wish I could remember who) added a couple washers behind the kickstand mounting plate to pull the end of the kickstand away from the frame. Easy fix. Even had before and after pics.

It's in the Do It Yourself Forum. Don't know how to make a quick link to it, but you should be able to find it.

Right where the kick stand pivots there is a flat spot for the stop. With some 3M mounting tape add a small shim, 1/16 thick and about 1/4 X 1/2 in size. It will hold you stand out about 2". No drilling, no screws and no money spent on after market fix's.

Not my idea, BUT! Loosen the fron bolt to the kickstand, remove the back bot and slip a couple of washers between the frame and the kickstand. replace the back bolt and tighten both. The end of the kickstand now pokes out a little to catch it with your boot.

I did this for two years...the problem is the "sticky" would only last about a month and then slip or fall off. Got tired of replacing them.
