Interesting Bike Night

I went to a bike night last night and there were at least 500 bikes there. I recently got a Raider and was excited to go with my new ride. I would guess that about 80% of the bikes there were HD's and I didn't see another Raider. My bike got a lot of looks. Most of the people that looked were wondering what my bike was. When they saw that it was a Yamaha, they turned around and walked off grumbling that it wasn't an HD. Funny thing is, I could easily afford an HD but I CHOSE what I consider a better bike. But oh well, I am happy with it and thats all that counts.

I saw three Suzuki m109R's and the younger people love that bike. It was cool looking but not my style.

I wish the if it's not an HD you don't have a bike thinking would fade away.

I have a HD Deluxe and Roady and love to ride both bikes. I can tll a HUGE differiences at bike rallys from the crowds when I ride my HD. Just the way it is. The roady is like a caddy and the deluxe is like a civic.

Trust me you did buy the right bike. The M109's are hotrods not a cruiser, nothing sits like a cruise. Everytime I've gone to Laughlin River Run we'll see half a dozen Harleys broke down at the side of the highway..........

There's a bike night in Lake City, FL (about 50 miles north of me) that I've been to several times. The first few times I went I heard flak from some HD owners grumbling about another "Jap" bike at the gathering. Funny thing is, this bike night is organized by Interstate Cycles Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki. I walked up and told them if they want a HD bike night their dealer needs to organize one.

I'll ride with HD owners, but only if they leave their attitude in the garage.

I'm sick of bikeism too, in both directions. The arrogance of some Harley riders and the Harley fans is ridiculous. It doesn't have to be a Harley to be great. End of story. On the flip side, many metric riders assume someone riding a Harley and wearing Harley gear must be one of "those" riders who think they are better than anyone else.

Why don't we all just enjoy the rides we can afford to buy, experience the freedom that riding provides and when you feel like ridiculing the other guy... shut the hell up.

I nominate Buc for President! Well said! This stuff is kid stuff, and I am tired of it - in either direction. I traded a Harley for my Star, so I have seen both sides.

they're just mad because HD didn't make a bike that sexy...

Even though the Softail comes damn close....
