I'm a newbie looking at buying a 1100 custom. I live in Canada and with the way the dollar is I'm wondering where I'm best off buying my Star. I found an '07 custom with about 500 miles for $12,500 but I'm not sure if that's a good deal south of the border or not. Can you give me any feedback? It's not a big deal for me to head down to Seattle but if I can't save a few dollars then it's not worth the trouble to bring the bike across the border.
Thanks for the help!!!
United States MSRP on an 07 1100 custom is $8599.00 which is a big difference in dollars saved if the $12000 you are quoting is Canadian. You save on both sides, the bike is cheaper and the exchange rate is on your side.
Check out 08 pricing-all have dopped-2008 1100 custom under $10,000 Canadian or the new loaded up models-GT's
All are way under the price you mention.

You can get better deals used south of the border. New is hard (broker here in Nova Scotia says impossible but there are companies doing it in Buffalo) to get across. Used is easy as long as you go with a broker, it's worth the $350-500 you pay them.
Yamaha pricing here is starting to fall into line with US pricing plus import fees. Go to your dealer and dicker. No-one has to pay sticker prices, and 07's are getting very hard to move with 08 prices dropping. Don't go for the Yamibucks either, your dollar can go alot farthur buying leather and helmets south of the border, even after any duty you have to pay. I would never pay for the extended warranty either, but that's me I can wrench.
Good Luck
