I'm re- greasing the neck bearings. I have the Valvoline durablend synthetic grease. Question is, will this be appropriate for the neck bearings. Reason for the re-greasing is the lower bearing seemed to be a little loose. My bike was bought new in 07, so I think they are ok, and after inspection they look ok. Also, do ya' think I should clean the old bearings off, or just add the new grease. BTW, I have swapped out the triple trees, and used the same bearings. The fitment was the exact same as it was for the stock trees, so I didn't see a problem with that.

That grease would work just fine. There is not the kind of stress on them that you get with wheel long as they are greased, you'll be fine.

I'd clean them..just to make sure there is no compatibility issue between different greases...

I pack bearings all the time on my job and was just wondering how you plan on packing them ....

The same way I do with car bearings. I figure it seems to work ok for them, should be ok for the bike, right? The stem/neck bearings, according to the owner's manual, only get get greased in moderation anyway.
