Without taking my mufflers off does anyone know the Outside Diameter of the 1100 Classic exhaust pipes at the muffler? I want to order some mufflers this winter and install them. The ones I am looking at ar 27" long, so they will be about at the same place the stock ones are. My only concern will be making a bracket to support them at the point that the stock ones mount.

I'll be changing my oil before then, but I figured I would ask.

I do not know the measurment, but there are dozens of adaptors available so I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you live near a Midas muffler store, they can make you a custom adaptor to do the trick if nothing is available off-the-shelf. They usually only charge a few bucks for this. Also, Samson exhaust makes a number of nice heat shields and chromed covers that you can put over the junction to dress it all up. I had a Suzuki Savage once, onto which I fitted a Harley muffler using just the pieces I mention. It turned out great, and most people thought it was a custom exhaust (which, strictly speaking, it was!).

I know it is probably not the answer you wanted but, if the mufflers you want to buy don't quite match up, you shouldn't let that deter you too much.

I was just looking and I think they are 1 1/4". The joint will be under the heat shield for both Front and Rear pipes. Now I just hope the fish tail exhausts will clear each other, top and bottom.
