I am looking at getting a 2003 V-Star 1100. THe engine light comes on when the bike gets hot. I live in Tucson, Arizona and the weather is about 100+. The Yamaha shop told me that this is normal. Nothing to worry about. Anybody else have this problem?

Correction-Oil Light- And I found a thread that covers the issue.

I live in Phoenix AZ and the only time my engine light comes on is at startup for just a 10th of a second. I commute to work, shopping, pleasure ride with no problem.

Are you idleing the bike a lot????

I'm in Tucson as well... My oil light has flashed a couple times even when it had plenty of oil. Scares the crap outta me.

We should get together for a ride?

I'm out east..... let me know...

I know for a fact but can't remember where I read it that this was a common thing to happen on earlier 1100's and is nothing to worry about. Something about a faulty oil sensor causing the oil light to come on. What is important is the oil level you see in the oil level window. If your good there then your good to go.
