Has anyone added a cruise control to their bike? Not a throttle lock but an honest to God Cruise control?
Thanks for any input.
I just got done putting one on my 03 V92C Victory & am now going to put one on my wifes 05 V Star 1100 Silverado.

where do you buy the cruise control? how much are they? thanks jim
Can buy on line or just about any automotive dealer. It is an audiovox CCS100 & sells for about $86 plus shipping on line. You can get others as well that are totally electric & smaller but are looking at something over $225. It may be challenging to conceal the vac/elect. servo but I am planning on installing infront of the Left bag & tuck in near the rear wheel. I may change may mind when it arrives.
tyler, hows it going? just wondering if you had installed the cruise on the vstar. If so how involed is it? And how well does it work? I have just purchased an 06 1100 classic, and would like to have the cruise. I'm really not that familar with this bike, yet!
Thanks, David
It was ordered through amazon & it won't arive till the 15th of January.
Am anxious to install. Have a heated garage attached to the house so can walk out in my stocking feet anytime I want. I think I will try to hide the servo in the lower front of the left saddle & tuck it in close & above the drive shaft. About the only place I can see unless I mount in front of the engine.
The one I installed on the 03 Vic, works awesome!! We had a couple of 40 degree days last weekend & I put 135 miles on trying it out. It worked perfect! The throttle does move under my hand but it doesn't bother as I either rest my palm on the outer edge of the throttle or over the switch casing & have my fingers lightely cover the brake. Much of the time, out here in the boonies, I am riding with one hand anyhow.
I will try to keep you posted on the results.
Happy & safe motoring
Dan
Thanks Dan.
David.
I'm in the south western end of KY 9 miles from the TN line. When you say country, that pretty much describes it all.
Where are you located? Sorry I see now, its old eyes.
David.
I am located in Southwestern Minnesota about 18 miles from South Dakota.
Little above normal here but still too cold to ride. It did get to 40 degrees last weekend however, just enough to get the bike out & put on 135 miles.
Hey Tyler, I feel for you. Although we have had sme bad weather, mostly rain. I've riden about every day this year.
Anything and everthing is an excuse to take a ride, even if only a short quick one.
Later, David.
A friend of mine rides a 2005 V Star 1100 Silverado.
He replaced the old original "friction lock cruise control" with a newer cruise control style. (I don't know the brand of it, but I will find out.) When you want to engage the control, you simply push a metal button (at the throttle).
When you want to disengage the cruise control, you start to pull against your front brake lever. As soon as the brake lever starts to move, it releases the cruise control.
1moxxi1, it does not sound like a cruise control but more like a glorified throttle lock. A true cruise control will move the throttle valve as more power is required to maintain a given speed, i.e. up hills etc.
Hey there tapo2. I am done installing & testing the cruise on my wife's vstar 1100. Was able to use existing vacuum ports between the throttle body & the intake valve & made a storage container out of 7 inches of 2 inch pvc w/ end caps & nipples. Placed a one way vacuum valve inbetween storage & vacuum sources (2 cylinders). I hid the servo, somewhat between front of the saddle bag & between the wheel & the vacuum storage between the saddle bag & wheel near the bottom of the saddle.
I have tested probably 100 miles or so in the fridgid SW MN winter & it works awesome!!
If you would like more info please let me know & I will help as best I can. I take no responsibility for any installation but am convinced that this is a safer installation than a throttle lock, if properly installed. It allows a person to relax and observe the road ahead instead of watching the speedo all the time.
Am definitely ready for some fun in the sun!
