Has anyone tried the brakeaway cruise control on their bike?

I have not tried the Break away Cruise Control, I installed the Rostra Electronic Cruise Control. I think I may be the first to install it on a V Star 950. It's working great.

I have the BreakAway on mine - I haven't been on an exceptionally long ride, but even on a short 40-50 mile cruise it's great! Of course if you are in hilly areas, it won't hold like a car cruise, since it is really a glorified throttle lock, but it definitely relieves hand fatigue.

If you do a search, you'll find lots of very positive write-ups on that Breakaway Cruise Control. A good friend of mine has it on his 1300 and he likes it a lot.

    Happy 4th!

I have the Vista Cruise. Works well for a simple configuration. Best at speed on the flats.

I put one on the GF's bike. By far the best, and safest, throttle lock on the market. Well worth the 200 quid.

Tewak89, I had posted some info and a couple of pictures. see the following post Cobra Vs. V&H

I had been searching for a Cruise Control for motorcycles and came across the Audiovox universal CC for cars that have been put on many motorcycles, I then came across the Rostra which does not require the connection to the Vacuum system and I thought I would give it a try.

I recently finished fabricating my controls, see pictures Black button bellow the horn switch is for Set/Decel, the red button is for Resume/Accel
The single Black button on the other side is for Cancel and is easy to tap with my left index finger to disengage the CC. Also either break or the Clutch will disengage the CC.

The unit comes with most of what I needed, I did weld a metal bar to the bottom of the mounting bracket for the cable, I wanted to be sure it was stiff enough not to bend. I used existing bolts to mount everything and did not have to drill any holes on the bike. They sell the magnets and sensor but I already had what I needed for that.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I also have put the vista cruise on mine. Kinda cheap but does the trick. Got mine from JC Whitney jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10111/s-10101/p-100000343971/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000343971/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000343971

Hay Soonerfan760, I had one of those I was going to put on my GL-500 before I traded it in on the 950. When I took it in for the 600 miles service I asked if they would put it on. They said that it could not be done. Could you maybe post or send me a couple of picks. If I can put the one I got on for now I'll use it instead of trying to sell it on eBay for a few bucks and then go get a Breakaway, thanks.

They give you a reason why? Here's a pic of mine. I did it myself and to get a really good fit where I was happy with it I actually had to carve out a little of the plastic on the cross brace piece (where the arrow is) to get it to lay down to where it all fit pretty good.

No they did not just said that it would not fit. Did not even try and sell me one which leads me to think that they are not as mechanically inclined as I was lead to believe by others.
That is about what I thought, move the break leaver mount up on the handle bar and put it between that and the Control unit. Guess I got another weekend project. Thanks for the tip on shaving down the cross post.

Not a problem....it should be pretty easy. I didn't have to move my brake lever though..but I guess if there is not enough room for it you will have to do that.
