My bike has 15k miles (second owner). Last time I had it in for service the guy indicated the clutch was slipping some. I didn't notice it but sure enough started to notice it the next week.

I am planning some winter projects and curious the difficulty of this project. I've done some googling and seen how people do a clutch replacement. Doesn't look too hard, but also not on this particular bike.

I'm shocked it needs to be done, but it is what it is.

    Hey TXAGFAN441,
Do a search for pgman's posts. I recently was inquiring about clutch issues on my 1100 and he posted some great info. He's a pretty smart and informed dude.

Our 1300 is in the shop tonight with a false neutral issue. Bike is still in gear when the green indicator is lit (and feel the 1/2 shift). I'll report tomorrow (hopefully it'll be done).

Check the adjustment, proper adjustment on the top (clutch lever & cable) and down below there is a screw and lock nut that needs adjusting as the clutch wears. Mine slipped pretty bad until I did the lower one, it's been fine since.....8,000 more miles.

If it does need replacement, a set of friction discs is usually all that is needed ($80-$100)...and a clutch holding tool is nice to have too.... they run $20-$50.... Hope that helps

I haven't had to replace the clutch yet, but I made a tool so that it's easy to keep the clutch adjusted right. It works well.
