What should I use to polish small scratches on chrome? I just had an ORK installed and guy must to put my cover on the floor and it got some scratches. He probably figured I won't need it. I want to modify it and still use it but I need to polish it first.

There is a product called Blue-Job. It will remove blueing and discoloration on chrome. But I dont think it will touch scratches. I think the best you can do is to have it rechromed. Chrome isnt like paint, you can polish paint to remove scratches. But how it works is the polish thins out the paint and covers the scratch. Chrome itself is a metal and cant be thined like paint. This is just my opinion maybe someone know more about it than me.

Although I've never used it on the chrome on my bike, I am a huge fan of Mother's brand polish. They have a polish specifically for chrome. We use it on the chrome and diamond plate on our fire trucks and it makes them shine like new. That'd be your best bet, IMHO.

This is the stuff we use on our chrome:

I'd be asking the dealer about why they scratched it!!!

Probably because they don't give a f***. It is not their bike. They put plugs on left side cover with small screwdriver damaging the slots. I will call them Monday about that and request new plugs. We will see....

If you have some steel wool in varying grades and the scratches aren't too deep you may be able to work them out.

You could also start with about a 600 grit sandpaper, work up to a 2500 grit then finish with the steel wool and polish. Just be careful .....

Not wanting to hijack this thread or anything but that jus pisses me off! I cant find a yamaha dealership that is worth a sh*t around where I live. They all want to either treat you like a dumba*s or rip you off! Dont get me wrong I love my 1100 and couldnt have been more happy with another bike but the yamaha dealerhsips around here are jus sh*tty! After they get what they want(your money) they dont give a damn about your problems! Sorry guys dont mean to rant but that jus makes me mad that they would something like that!

Agree with you and your in the USA,try the knobs in Australia, you feel your gettin shafted in the USA try buying any part accessory in Australia and then get the useless Yamaha dealership to fit/tune/diagnos your bike without getting a scratch/dent...or to work efficiently. Also try buying parts in AUS,2 to 3 times the price of you guys..
Does this make you feel a bit better JG6,cause I feel your pain.

Not gonna lie, my dealership basically rocks. Granted I know the owner very well, but the accessories guy is the most helpful guy on the planet. Gives me tips on installs and purchases. Move to WI, you'll be happier. HAHA

The Chrysler dealership her sucks balls though, so I can feel your pain there. Went there once, never going back...

What about my cover?! I know WI is pretty but...

    Just kidding

I talked to the service department and they will replace plugs. As for cover they claim it had scratches already. BS!!!.I guess I will have to try buffing it out.

One thing I have learned from this forum is if your bike is clean, do a walk through on it with the service manager before you let them have it...then they can't BS you.

Also, I use NEVER DULL on my bike. There might be something better out there, but it is just habit.

As far as scratches...they are there...if it bothers you bad..just buy another cover.
