Just got a 04 Classic, it has after market pipes and does pop when you let off the gas, do I need to re-jet my carbs and is this something a novice mech can tackle ? Also will this affect my m.p.g.? I am getting 35 now/

From my understanding, you really only need to rejet when you modify the intake, aftermarket exhaust really won't affect too much, especially if they are only slip-ons.

Popping on decel is normal if you still have your AIS installed.

Others will be along shortly to provide a lot useful info I'm sure.

BTW, most of the work you MIGHT need to do to your carbs...synching, rejetting, etc....can easily be handled yourself. I did mine and I'm lucky if I can change a burned out light bulb properly.

The PMS settings are too lean. You need to richen them up a bit until the popping stops. Check this link out and study up a bit. Don't forget to sync. the carbs when done.

Read this....POPPING / BACKFIRING .....to educate yourself a little bit. It's actually an easy fix.
