I have OEM engine guards on my 1100 Classic and I will some times drag my floorboards making hard turns at intersections, driveways, never in a curve on the road. You can hear the boards grind and just feel them start to lift.

Now I want to put wider bars on after getting my foot caught under my bike. I stopped backing out of my garage for a car and my foot slipped on a slimy board. VERY hard to lift the bike off your foot!

What bars drag before the floorboards? Cobras, Linde, or others? I want one wide enough to protect my foot again.

just lower the mounts for your bars to where you want them, they arent CRASH944 bars (even thou some people think they are) they are just there for laydown protection and footpeg relocation so any solid metal stock will work to relocate the mounts so its an inch or so lower but getting off the ground "should be" your goal not finding proper "skid" devices

I am looking for "CRASH944" bars that stick out further than the engine protector bars that I have I have found a site for rear guards that come out as far as the saddle bags and a "normal" set or "CRASH944 " bars would be out far enough to keep my foot from getting caught again.

I don't want them to hit the ground before the edge of my floor boards or they might cause the bike to loose traction. The floor boards rub, I hear it and feel it. but they give. Once the bars touch there will be no "give" and the bike might start to slid on them.

I would be careful here. The floorboards are spring loaded and have additional pads on them specifically so they can absorb the occasional drag. The bars are not this way, so may not be so forgiving if they they drag into an uneven spot of the corner. I could envision a scenario where you might hook the bar and go down...

I'm with you....I'd much rather have boards or pegs dragging than an engine bar.... dragging a bar can lift the front tire off the ground and that spells disaster.

Hense, my question! I am looking for any that don't drag before the floorboards. Short of buying then and installing them and leaning the bike over to see what touches first, I figured I would ask the group for suggestions. Or find out what one did touch before the floorboards.

I have a Lindby Multibar on my bike and they stick out past my floor boards. I have drug my floorboards many times but no danger of rubbing the bar.

That was the information I am looking for. I like the warning of impending lean limit that the floor boards give, but I don't want to worry about having a trapped foot, again.

I have the Cobra highway bars and the floor board drags before the bar. Been there, done it and no problems.
