How do you folks get the dried up, baked on, crusty bugs off of your windshields? Just curious as to what is best to use without damaging the plastic.

I use cleaner that is safe for tinted windows. Or plain soapy water.

I used to own a couple of detail shops in my past life. The best thing for plastic is wax but not cleaner wax. The stuff they say is safe for clearcoats (which is most wax today). Clean the windshield with soap and water and then wax it. The next time you clean it the bugs will come right off. You can even use spit. Just rewax it every time or two you clean it.

Protect All. I use it on everything. I've even used it on my boots.

I did find this stuff called All Kleer by Black Lab company. it is used by pilots for their plastic windows. It cleans and helps stop fog. Sometimes I use it on my windshield, But I always use it on the helmet. Helps slow down the fogging and works great.

You can google either product to find them online.

Take a towel and get it wet and let it set on the windshield for a while and the bug will loosen up.

nothing but soapy water when washing the whole bike. between washings i just use a wet microfiber towel to remove bugs then a dry microfiber to dry. shield still looks new. no scratches yet.

This stuff is amazing, its thick so it don't run, i apply it with a soft cloth or my fingers to the bug, black stuff on pipes...etc, very good for the touch up after a night ride that has a lot of bugs but don't necessarily call for a full bike wash, gotta try it!

Its always been just plain water only. Lol, sometimes I need to wet them first to soften them up, but by keeping the windshield waxed there has never been a problem for me.....even with the luv bug troubles we have in the south.

Edit: For my pipes I've always used mrclean.com nothing but water here too. It worked great on the place where my daughter melted the heel of her boot to the exhaust and left a big black spot.

I agree Plexus is the best and that is what Mother Yammi recommends...

I used Lemon Pledge on my airplane windows too. Not FAA approved. But really worked well.

Dont have a windshield on this bike, but my other bike had one and I would set a wet rag on it for a couple of minutes and then i would use plexus to clean it all up. Use plexus on the tank and pipes as well.

Take a wet soapy towel and cover your windshield with it while ya clean the rest of your bike. By the time ya get to the windshield the bugs and whatnot will come off with out scratching the windshield. A warm soapy towel is even better. A wet T-shirt with a good looking gal in it will also work. If ya use this method be sure to post some pictures.
