Hi everyone Im new to the site, and was just wonderingwhat everyone thought is the best aftermarket exhaust for a V Star. Personally i think its way to quite right now, ive been looking at a few online, but cant really find any great reviews, and im finding mostly Cobras. Anyone who has some input it would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
There are tons of different options out there it would be hard to say which is the best. Keep searching the web and try to find some sound clips and make the choice that best fits what your looking for.
I ended up going with the Cobra speedster longs for mine and I love them. Sounds nothing like the factory system and I like the seemless chrome pipe look.
Good luck with your quest.
First off, Welcome to the forums. Have a good look around and get aquainted with all the site has to offer. There are alot of good and knowledgeable people on here to help you out. As for pipes, I have Cobra also and they sound good to me.
I have the Cobra HP-Pro 2-1 on my '05 Classic. I was looking for the most horsepower I could squeeze out of the machine without cracking the engine cases, so I went with those and a Maxair Predator Pro intake and jet system. Sound wasn't a really serious concern for me, but I think the pipes sound really good- and quite different than a conventional 2-2 exhaust.
Everyone is going to have a different opinion on this one. This has also been discussed before - search the threads and you'll find a ton of info.
And by the way, welcome!

mige55730, When you get a chance, please go to the who are you section and tell us about yourself. We would really like to get to know you a little better.
As for your question. It's hard to tell from a video file, but I would go to you tube and check out the clips of all the different exhausts and see if anything hits your fancy. That's what I did when I got mine.
Ditto on the "different pipes for different people," but maybe the good folks here can help point you in a direction. Are you looking for performance? Crazy looks? Non-chrome version? 2-2 or 2-1?
For the most part, aftermarket exhausts will usually be quite a bit louder than stock.
I have the PCS monster Pro 2 into 1 on one of my bikes. I have cobras on the other. I must that the monster pipe makes lots of power an sounds good. But Iam thinking of going back to 2 into 2 on this bike. Iam not really happy with the PCS pipe because of the special care involved to make it look good. It is ceramic coated and requires a lot of polishing to make it shine. Stick with chrome or Black pipes.
P. S. Welcome to the forum!
I just installed bub jug huggers on my bike and I can honestly say that they sound awesome. The have a nice thump on acceleration and a great tone at cruise speed. Not to mention IMO these pipes look amazing, nice and clean. They're a higher priced midrange pipe but the way I see it; go big or go home. I will be attempting to post some video and pics one of these days. I will let you know when I do.

Glad you mentioned that Ben. I personally love the look of the PCS 2 into 1, but I was wondering about the ceramichrome finish the have and how much different they'd look from all the rest of the chrome on the bike. Now you mention that the finish is high maintenance. May have to look at the cobra more.
I also have the Cobra 2-into-1 and I think the sound is truly awesome - not extremely loud and a great idle / low-speed growl. I think BUB, Hard Krome, and Roadhouse pipes are probably the best-built and have superior finishes, but they are generally much more expensive. Cobra and Vance & Hines are more budget friendly, although V&H doesn't do much for the V-Star 1100 (I'll never know why).
If you want a deeper tone, you're probably going to want a larger diameter or longer pipe (or both). The shorter, drag-style pipes tend to be more "crackly" (if may structure that word use-ment)
Welcome to the forum.
The PCS pipe on thier website looks like show chrome quality. You can see what they really look like on the albums section of my profile. L.B.
Since we are on the topic of exhaust systems, does any have any experience with Hardkrome Strippers. ( I'm looking at exhaust for sound and extra power).
I have the Cobra Speedster Slashdowns on my 1100. I just put them on this spring along with the MaxAir Predator Pro Kit. Love them.
Samson rip saws
Been looking at the Samson Ripsaws for my '07 classic.
Any incresae in power with these?
The regulars here have heard this before, but I found the Cobra Classic Deluxe Slashcuts to be a great mid-range exhaust between the quiet stock mufflers and aftermarket straight pipes, with a nice sound that won't make you go deaf. When at all possible, listen to other bikes exhausts in person: there's no substitute.

A buddy of mine has Hard Krome Strippers on his kawasaki VN900 they seemed to improve power a little bit. They sound AMAZING... I can barely hear my 1100 custom when I ride with him and I have BUB big willys on mine. Hard Krome is an excellent product and I plan to get some for my 1100, IMHO they have a superior finish and they sound excellent.

I have a 1100 vstar cruiser and have had it for twelve months in that time it had a small vibration but it is quite bad now. It is felt through the whole range as well as cruising. I have just had it tuned the rear wheel removed splines checked (drive shaft), wheel rebalanced and refitted only to find no better. I am after some major advice it only has 18000k's and is a 2003 model. It is a great looking machine I wish it went as well as it looked..Any help greatly appreciated
