If I were you, I would do some serious shopping around (ebay, on line, etc.). My brother-in law went through the same thing when he needed a battery for his V-Star. I think he ended up getting a pretty good one off of ebay for about $80.00.

I priced one at Autozone for over 360.00 I think you should be able to cross reference it an find one for less than 80.00 try taking the old battery with you to Advance or Napa or O'Reilly's whatever you have and matching one up. With posts on the right side. These prices are outrageous. This is a pretty common battery style.

+1 on the link that Mick posted. That is where I found the info for my replacement this spring. Got the burliest battery that would fit in my bike for $75 or so.

Most mid-sized towns around here have a Batteries Plus store. I got mine for 69 bucks I think.

    thanks !!
weird thing with this battery is that I put it to charge last night, in less than 1 hour it showed it was charged........ I checked the voltage and it was 12.98 V I installedt the battery, start the bike the battery shows 13.8 V . this morning I tried to start the bike ( it was a nice 46F ...) not enough juice in the battery....

That's a typical symptom they exhibit when bad. Bad batteries will take a "surface charge" and indicate good voltage, but when placed under a load, they shoot craps. A load test will confirm this. Be happy you show the 13.8v. when running. That indicates that your stator/regulator are good. Very expensive to fix those if they're bad.

from the link it shows that the battery from my other bike ( the ZZR 1200) will fit !! much cheaper !!! (the ZZR are from 2002 to 2005 and use the same)

I like the idea of 200 amps vs 135...but to check things out prior to buying the ETX14...I added a 3/4 inch board to the side of my stock battery to see if the added width would really make any difference...well, it did...when I tried to put the chrome cover back on..it fit in ok at the top but the cover hit the battery left bottom corner and would not allow me to push the cover into the bottom rubber gromet..so, it fit, if I am ok with the cover not being quite back in place..sooooo......

I got back on line with Batterymart and looked up the YT14-B4...which is the original battery replacement for the Nomad..price was $69.95 plus $14.44 shipping for a total of $84.39. If I had bought it at the local dealer it would have cost me $199.00 plus $16.92 tax for a total of $215.92. So I basically bought the replacement battery for 1/3 the price that the local dealer wanted...and it will fit perfectly...now that's a savings....!!!!
