Bike is in for the first service so I was thinking of switching to amsoil. Anyone have any problems with the clutch because of it. Dealer says it may cause trouble with the wet clutch.

Amsoil will not cause problems with wet clutch. I have not heard anything negative about Amsoil and a whole lot of positive.

i think amsoil makes an oil just for v-twin motorcycles that is ok for wet clutches.

I work in a motorcycle shop and can tell you that is is rare that we get a customer that ask for dino oil, most request Amsoil.

I am running AMSOIL in my 07 Venture, no problems, I did wait until the second service at 4,000 miles. Most folks on the other forums recomend letting th ebike break in on dino oil then switch to synthetics.
I am running 3000 and change the filter and then change the oil and filter at the next 300 miles mark.

Thanks guys. So here,s what I,m thinking. Going to use semi-synthetic for a couple of oil changs and then go to amsoil in the engine. Diff is getting amsoil now. Guys in the back shop say they go about 5000 kms on semi- synthetic, does that sound right.

To me, that sounds a little far. I am not the expert here by no means however.

On my 1300 I went with Amsoil at 2,100 miles.
With the Amsoil the engine is noticeable quieter.
And just to add, Amsoil does make motorcycle wet clutch specific oil:

Again, thanks for the info guys. unpitten it,s always nice to see it in writing and if you don,t mind can I ask if you changed the engine covers that say Yamaha and if you did where you got chrome replacement covers. CHILLI PEPPER may be right that 5000kms may be to far but I thought part of the reason to use synthetic or semi- synthetic was to go further before changing oil.

I haven't changed the covers. On the 1300 the only cover that is stamped with Yamaha is the small one on the right side by the brake pedal. But there are cover replacements available for that.
