After my trip to Amercade this month, I am thinking its time for a new seat. My Stratoliner seat has been fine for around town trips, but the long runs are tough on the butt. Tried out the Ultimate seat at the show, and was impressed with the comfort. Am also looking at the Mustang and Corbin. Cost for all are within about $50, the corbin looks best but I have heard they are harder and less comfy them the rest? The Ultimate sits up high at the tank but it seemed pretty comfortable when I sat on one at their tent.

Any imput from others with experience would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Ultimate Seats 4-piece and let me tell you... don't even look at the others, this is the best seat hands down.

    zdradomaniac,

Thanks for the tip. It's a pretty good size investment and I hate to go in blind!
Are you happy with the look of this seat on your bike. This is one of the prettiest bikes on the road, and I want to keep it that way.

Absolutely! I had mine made with blue stichings to match the paint, and I had them ditch the "Ultimate" logo and keep just their star logo.

Thanks again. I think getting rid of the Ultimate advertising is a great idea. Did this slow down the delivery?

I traded in a 02 goldwing for my Srato. The wife if not very pleased with the downgrade in her seating comfort. Is the backrest larger and more padded than the o.e.m. backrest?

It did not slow down the ETA. The padding on the back rest is less stiff, even though it's about the same thickness and size. My wife had no complaints.

Sweet ride, like the beatle bags.
Did you get your passanger floor boards form Yamaha or other?

My used Stratoliner S came with the Mustang rider/passenger seat. I don't even know how the original holds up on a long drive. The Mustang is more than comfortable for a long drive. The Roadstar Silverado I had before was outfitted with the original seat and it was more than comfortable for the long drive.

I am seriously considering pulling the Mustang and putting the original on because it might give me a little more seat height. Right now I can barely plant the balls of my feet on the ground thanks to my 29" inseam. If I find the original seat sufficient you can expect to see the Mustang seat on eBay.

I have the Ultimate Seat for my 03 Roadstar Silverado.
I love the seat, it's very very comfortable. My wife sais the passenger seat is a bit softer than the stock but her butt still gets sore. Mine is fine.
It did move me slightly forward on the bike, but not much, which was fine, and the adjustable backrest is awsome.
I recommend the Ultimate. While in Myrtle beach bike week they let me put on my bike and ride for a few hours to make sure I liked it. Mustang vendor wouldn't even let me drive around the parking lot with it on my bike, unless I bought it first. I could only sit on their seat while they held my bike up. And the people at the Ultimate tent were very helpful, the people at the Mustang tent acted like they were doin me a favor by letting me sit on their seat. SO, I said screw them and bought the Ultimate, and am glad I did.

It didn't move me up too much, less than an inch,...and the more I think of it, I kinda wonder if its the fact that I know also have a backrest that I didn't have before, that is keeping me from sliping backwards and from slouching down.

It's a comfortable seat, and it definately feels different than the stock seat, and I didnt realize just how much more comfortable it was until one day I went riding for about 40 mins on the stock seat, then came home and put the Ultimate seat on and rode for another hour three hours or so. The difference was immediately noticable and much more comfortable.

I have the full set from Ultimate with the taller back rest. BIG DIFFERENCE over stock! My Lady had real trouble with the stock rear seat, and the Ultimate made her much happier. This is starting my second season with these seats, and what has made another huge difference for her comfort was the installation for this year of passenger foot boards. With the installation of a Cobra 2 into 1 exhaust, i was able to mount the stock Yamaha foot boards lower and forward. She tells me that now it is really comfy for her. As far as the rider seat, i am a little forward, and the height is not a problem. Since i am of the stubby persuasion, with a 28" inseam, i really can't say how any 'Long Riders' (anyone over 5' 6") will make out but it works GREAT for me. The people at Ultimate were good to deal with, and i feel their products are well worth the money.

I have to agree thet Ultimate seats are the most comfortable out there, but, the wife and I went down to Deals Gap this summer and got caught in the rain. The elaborate stitching on the seat allowed a LOT of water to be absorbed by the cushions. It took almost 3 days to completely dry out. If you're serious about these seats, get the rain covers. It will save you're wet butt and possibly your marriage!!

I have the Mustang seat with drivers backrest on my bike. (2 hr. rides) My wife says it's not to bad for her and the passanger floor boards helped even more. Myself I am not to happy with it. I think the seat with the backrest pushes you to far forward. Even with the backrest off, the seat is designed for it and the seat is just to far forward. I feel like I am sitting on a edge of a chair. The back of my legs get so uncomfortable, again like sitting on the edge of a chair all of the time. I am 275 lbs with only a 31" inseam and have risers on my bike. I have thought of the Ultimate seat, but I really like the looks of the "Day Long seat" by Russell seats. You may want to check out there website. Good Luck with it.

I've got the Corbin Solo. It is a bit firm but with constant riding it molds to ones behind and gets pretty comfortable. I haven't riddin over 200 miles at a pop so I can't attest to longer rides but it is comfortable at 200.

I went with the ultamate seat also great ride all 4 pices. Say Biker Bandit did you have any problem with those Corbin bags?? I'm on my 3rd set & deceided not to get another set but to have the paint bubbles taken care of locally.

save for one bike I have run corbin seats on all of our bikes. After the first thousand miles the stiffness of the leather is gone. They will build your seat to match your needs and inseem. I am sure the ultimate is fine but the corbin seats are better looking to boot.
