I've been off a bike now for 20 years and am now going through my 3rd or 4th mid-life chrisis.
I am about to buy a used 2001 Roadstar Midnight with 9000 miles on it.
I have read voraciousley about the bike and it looks like the one for me.

I know the transmission recall has been done and the oil seems clean. It runs out fine and I wonder if there is more I should be looking for?
Thanks in advance and I look forward to reading more here on the forum.

At 9000 miles, not much. I'd pay attention to the tires as they are most likely the originals and my need replacing before long if not from miles maybe age. Check the neck bearings to make sure that they are tight. Look at the shock mount at the frame to ensure there is no sign of cracking at the frame mount of the shock. This is not a big item but it has been known to happen. The neck bearing is not a big thing either but these are big bikes and will have a front end shake if the bearings are loose.
