    Bless me Mikey for I have sinned. It's been 23 years since my last confession.

    "Go ahead my son"

    I recently complained about my lack of riding companions so I decided to take action on the problem. I had discussed biking with my significant other, who thought that she could not master a bike due to her short stature. We tried various bikes over the months and last week I pulled the trigger and bought her a shiny, black cruiser with saddlebags and crash bars.

    "So what's the problem, my son?"

    Well...it's a Honda Shadow 750, father. It wasn't my fault! She said she just couldn't quite get comfortable on anything else. I wanted her to feel safe, and in control right? It was an '05! It was at a great price! It had a manufacturer warranty! She liked the style. She made me buy that one! And that's not all of my shame, father...

    "This is very serious. Go on."

    Well...I've been enjoying my old sportbike for months...but when I rode her cruiser home for her, I found the cruiser type of bike to be very seductive. The rumble of the V-twin...the ride was smooth as glass, the comfortable seat, and low note of the exhaust plus saddle bags with actual storage space. Is it wrong to love both Father? Will the Lord forgive me or will my immortal soul burn in biker Hell for all eternity? What be my pennance Father Mikey?

    Well my son,
    For your penance, meditate on your transgressions while reciting the Motorcyclists Prayer 20 times.

    The motorcycle is my shepherd;
    I shall not want.
    It maketh me burnout on black pavements;
    It leadeth me beside busy freeways;
    It restoreth my soul;
    It leads me in the path of quickness for its names sake.
    Yea I walk through the valley of rice, I shall fear no turbo, for Torque art with me;
    Thy clutch and thy throttle they comfort me.
    Thou preparest a Track for me
    in the presence of mine enemies;
    Thou hast anointed my engine with oil;
    My bike overpowers.
    Surely traction and victory shall follow me,
    All the days of my life,
    And I shall dwell in the house of the CC's, Forever.
    Amen
    But I am fearful that you shall be condemned to an ever decreasing bank account whilst trying to quench a never-ending desire of upgrades and chrome.

    May God have mercy on your soul!!

    ROTFLMAO I thought we all agreed no religion?

    Your penance: The corners of the Yamaha Dealership: sit on one of every model reciting the Motorcyclists Prayer on each.

    Congrats on the new ride! There's nothing wrong with the honda line. I find the styling unappealing, and that's just subjective. But they are mechanically sound good running machines. All that really matters is that she is on 2 wheels anyway. Make sure she takes the MSF course!

    Here's the true penance. Her's is bigger than yours!!!

    Sushi, Give in to the dark side. You can't resist. Take your place on the throne of a cruiser. Now the transition will be complete. We shall rule the streets together! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.......................

    Stations of the Cross? I haven't done that one in eons.

    Whaddya mean hers is bigger than mine? We're both 750cc's. They even weigh about the same at 500-ish lbs. Hers looks bigger though. Longer. We'll both be taking the course for sure.

    When I started looking for a bike Honda Shadow was my first choice. Everything else made by Honda and owned by me proved to be good quality. I just did not like radiator sticking out on a Sabre . Just don't fight who is going to ride it.

    Had a 2003 Honda Shadow 750 ACE Deluxe before the 1300. Awesome bike. I actually MISS riding it.

    Man! Your neighbors are gonna be thrilled with you! Now you've got TWO motorcycles to work on! That is the best payback you could have given them! Maybe you'll get lucky and they will move. Congrats!

    Congrats on the new purchase and acquisition of a full time riding buddy. I could never condemn a man (or his wife) for riding what they like. I'd just love to get my wife more into motorcycles.

    Work on? No way, Dan. This sucker's an '05 with a warranty. If it so much looks at me cross-eyed, I'm taking it to the dealer. It should be fine though..it's mostly stock and only has 5,000 miles on it.

    Meh, Honda or Yamaha. At least she's on two wheels, right? That's all that matters!

    While on the subject. I still have a 2001 Suzuki Savage LS650 setting in the back of my building. Great little bike for a beginner. I was hoping my wife would take up riding on her own with it. But she has decided to just ride with me. So I am going to sell it soon.

    Sushi, thanks for the laugh. Well constructed story line by the way. We had a rider in our group with a 750 Honda Shadow, her name is "road kill" as she's killed a groundhog last summer. I've ridden with her several times and her bike is very smooth. Good choice although I want you to throw in a hail mary for me ok! TGIF

    Can't argue about the Shadow 750. Friend's wife rode a 2004 750 and made two back to back trips from Toronto to Sturgis, 2005, 2006, not one single problem. Then last year she traded it in for a Susuki 900. Go figure!

    Mikey,
    How long do you think it's gonna be before Sushi's girl wants to add some "BLING" to the new bike? When she does Sushi.... you WILL be working on it!!! I can hear it now..Chrome, Chrome, Chrome, Seat, Pipes, Bags and on, and on and on! Congrats dude! your'e a lucky guy! Have fun and ride safe.
