I'm curious as to whether you have to remove the gas tank to change the spark plugs on these bikes- the shop manual is of no help.
No. Take the screws out of the rear of the tank and prop it up with a block of wood. I have 16,500 and just checked my valves. You don't have to change those plugs at 8k... that's silly.
I agree. Look at the plugs at 25-30k.
The Yamaha service manual for 950 says replace plugs every 8,000 miles or 12 months.
Not that they need it but that's what it says..............
