Can anyone help me with this? I bought a 2000 1100 classic with slip on Cobras. While I was getting the money together, I ordered on Ebay original exhaust since I wanted the bike to be quiet in my neighborhood. I think that I bought the Custom version of the OEM exhaust though. Do I have to sell it and get the Classic exhaust or is it adaptable in any way?

    Thanks!

They are the same. Did you maybe buy one that is newer than 06?

Yeah I'm thinking what retzdaret said. There is a bracket that goes with the stock exhaust. Maybe you're missing that? You can go to the Yamaha site and look at the parts list and compare pics with what you have. Other than that you didn't mention why you think it is a custom exhaust.

Thanks for the quick info guys...I'm going to look at the numbers stamped to see if the guy sold me the right year exhaust. I may be missing the original bracket if the one on the bike came with the Cobras.

    Will let you know!

    Thanks

After lining up the front pipes, the ones I bought on Ebay appear to be different than the original ones still on the bike... The muffler assembly has the following stamped on the inside of the ones I bought as originals:

    4WM on one pipe and
4WM1 on the other (they are connected by welds and a bracket.

I do have the 'muffler stay' bracket on the bike and it appears original.

Does anyone have the numbers off their original exhaust?

    (2000 1100A Classic)

    Thanks!

What year is the exhaust you got off Ebay? I agree with retzdaret...I think 06 up are slightly different than earlier versions but they just might still bolt up.

Could you tell us what the differences are?

quicgmicg, the bracket welded on the two mufflers is almost solid rectangular....I've just spent half an hour on Ebay looking for the original listing but it looks like it's too old (6 months ago prob). The front exhaust pipe to the head is 90 deg off what is on the bike as original so I thinkit's on a different year. I wil try and post photos but mybest bet is if someone with an 1100 made within the last few years recognizes the '4WM' stamped on the mufflers

Hmmm... It doesn't look like this does it? This is the only reference I can find to 4WM and exhaust and it's for a roadstar. Hopefully not the case.

I'm no expert, but it sounds to me like it's off the wrong bike, especially if it's 90 degrees off. I don't think they changed the pipe location on that 1100 motor since they built the first one.

Mige, that's it....the guy sent me the wrong exhaust, or he didn't know what it was off of...it's in excellent condition though..I'll have to put it back on EBay....

Thanks for all the help guys.

That's tough luck man.... you really have to watch that ebay stuff. I've seen so many incorrect listing it's not funny.

OK I found an OEM exhaust for my bike, cleaned up the set that the guy shipped me (I think it was taken off a new 1600 right away) and put it back on EBay...doesn't seem to generate too much interest though.....

    Thanks!

I'm glad you got it going... Stock exhaust systems are not the fastest movers, but you'll be able to get ride of it I'm sure. Keep the faith brother!
